长江是中国第一大河，世界第三大河。其最为奇秀、最为壮观的风景，当属川鄂两省交界处的三峡。大自然的鬼斧神工，数亿年的天地造化，成就了这独步天下的天然山水画廊。
三峡工程是迄今为止世界上最大的水利工程。在建成蓄水后，峡外的主要景点白帝城、张飞庙、石宝寨、名山鬼城、白鹤梁水文题刻；峡内的古栈道、摩崖石刻、屈原祠、昭君故里等四十四处景点，都将因水位抬高而部分或全部被永久淹没。
The Yangtze River, the longest river in China and the third longest in the world, goes forward with gread strength and vigor for 6,300 km. The most splendid and magnificent part of it is the Three Gorges which lies at the juncture of Sichuan Province and Hubei Province. The gorges extends from White King Town in Fengjie County, Sichuan Province to Nanjunguan pass in Yichang, Hubei Province, with a full length of 193 km. It consists of Qutang Gorge, Wu gorge and Xiling Gorge. It was the nature's creation and billions of year development that achieved the unique natural landscape gallery. In the three gorges, there are so many beautiful things, grotesque landforms, charming sights and countless historical sites…etc. that we simply can't take them all in. After the construction of the Three Gorges Project, the reservoir will store water and the key scenic spots, such as White King Town, Zhangfei Temple, Shibaozhai Village, Hanque Pass, Mingshan Ghost City, Baiheliang out of the gorges and ancient plank roads, Stalactic Buddhas on cliff, Qu Yuan Temple, Wang Zhaojun's native place in the gorges will be inundated partly or completely.
